Petra Lea holds a studio at Electric Picture House, a non-profit artist co-operative in Cheshire. Studio members create art in a variety of mediums including painting, street art, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, and jewellery. The group “aims to encourage participation in the arts, by providing workshop and gallery space and by organising exhibitions, art workshops and community projects.” Petra focuses primarily on collages and paintings, which often depict obscure landscapes and surreal imagery.

More of her work can be viewed on her facebook page.

“My artwork mainly consists of paintings and collages. The paintings are generally abstract, exploring emotional response, colour and form. These develop into landscapes or function on a purely emotional level. The collages focus on the inability of communication to visualise reality, to reflect the dissonance between form and content and the dysfunctions of language. Through the juxtaposition of image and texts the viewer is drawn into a world where they can create their own connections and stories.”
