#58 | Psychotherapist (and Roller derby enthusiast) Amy Plant

This week on Sparking Change, Dil speaks to Amy Plant. Amy is a qualified psychotherapist practising in Dublin City Centre. She holds an Honours Degree in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy from The Institute of Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy (IACP).

Amy works from an integrative perspective which means she doesn’t believe in a ‘one size fits all’ method, rather she uses several different therapeutic modalities, including Humanistic, Choice Theory, Existential, psychodynamic and CBT. This allows her to work collaboratively with clients to identify their strengths and preferences in order to find a therapeutic style that suits the individual.

In this episode, Dil and Amy discuss a wide range of topics including Amy’s father, who has chosen the niche career combination of plumber and psychotherapist, the importance of marketing yourself as a psychotherapist, Roller derby and its mental health benefits, as well as the impact that social media has on peoples’ mental health and some of the things Amy does to maintain good mental health.
