Live Podcast with Kevin McGahern and Andrea Farrell (Pt. 1)

The first live HeadStuff Podcast with comedian and host of RTE’s Republic of Telly, Kevin McGahern, and comedian Andrea Farrell (also oft-spotted on Republic of Telly) was recorded in Sober Lane D4. Kevin and Andrea do a reading of the finalists of The Lacomic Cup, and Kevin, who judged the final, announces the winner of the competition. Kevin also does a reading from his favourite book, ‘Well-Remembered Days’ by Arthur Mathews. We also talk about comedy and religion in Ireland, the Catholic Church, Islamophobia, abortion, comedy, Father Ted, Dave Allen, The Savage Eye, parents, home and other madness.

In the outro it sounds a bit like there’s not another part to come, that’s because we made a mistake, but this is part one of two, so there’ll be more to come very soon.

Alan Bennett was a stand-up comedian for a while and during that time he toured with David O'Doherty and Maeve Higgins and did well in some competitions and co-ran Schnitzel Comedy Club. Then he started writing fiction and it has been published in several literary magazines and anthologies including 30 Under 30 which Joseph O'Connor chose as one of his books of the year for The Irish Times. He received a Masters with first class honours in creative writing from UCD and a BA in fine art painting from LSAD. Now he's working on getting his novel on, and being in charge of HeadStuff.org.
