If you’re a regular listener of The HeadStuff Podcast, you’ll be aware of Music Editor Dave Hanratty’s dulcet tones, wild opinions and general Herculean presence. After much deliberation, we have decided to open Pandora’s Box and give him his own podcast, henceforth known as NO ENCORE. What is NO ENCORE? Why is it in block capitals? Is Alan Bennett already regretting this decision? All valid questions, at least two of which are answered in our teaser episode below. Stay tuned this week for the debut episode proper which features the very excellent Overhead, The Albatross, a dramatic reading of a Henry Cavill interview and a debate about being popular on Twitter.

Alan Bennett was a stand-up comedian for a while and during that time he toured with David O'Doherty and Maeve Higgins and did well in some competitions and co-ran Schnitzel Comedy Club. Then he started writing fiction and it has been published in several literary magazines and anthologies including 30 Under 30 which Joseph O'Connor chose as one of his books of the year for The Irish Times. He received a Masters with first class honours in creative writing from UCD and a BA in fine art painting from LSAD. Now he's working on getting his novel on, and being in charge of HeadStuff.org.
