Events
The Druid Theatre Company’s production of Waiting for Godot made it’s way to the Aran Islands for the first of its performances on Inis Meain on Monday night. The run continued on Inis Meain last night, and will make its way to the Céide Fields in Mayo on Thursday, before finishing up on Military Road in Wicklow on Saturday.
This Saturday at Beatyard, Dublin Inquirer editor Lois Kapilla will present a talk on whether Irish news publications are ignoring their readers.
News
The Literature Wales Books of the Year Award has been awarded to Thomas Morris for his collection of short stories We Don’t Know What We’re Doing. The collection has also won the Rhys Davies Trust Fiction Award for Short Fiction, as well as the Wales Arts Review People’s Choice Award. Morris also edits Dublin based journal The Stinging Fly which has previously published by Kevin Barry and Maeve Brennan.
The first volume in Penguin’s revival of the Modern Poets series will be published this Thursday, 28th July. The volume includes poetry from Eric Gregory Award winner Emily Berry, former Guggnheim and MacArthur fellow Anne Carson and co-founder of tender Sophie Collins.
Painter Michael O’Nuallåin, brother of Brian O’Nuallain (more commonly known as Flann O’Brien) has passed away at the age of 88.
Situations
The Tangerine have launched their new website and are seeking new submission until 31st August. Features and short stories (maximum 6000 words), as well as poetry submission of 5-6 pages should be sent to [email protected]. Successful submission will be included in the first print issue later this year.
The Dublin Book Festival are recruiting for hiring for 2016. Candidates for the positions of Marketing & Administration Executive and Marketing & Administration Assistant Intern should send all relevant documentation to [email protected] by Thursday.
