Tittererer’s Digest |95| feat. the Vodafone Comedy Festival

Howdy folks. I recently began an effort to convince biscuit scientists to help me craft a Tittererer’s Digestive. The idea is it would be a sort of mealy snack to consume while enjoying the comedic offerings below. I’ve fallen at the first hurdle, in that I’ve had difficulty finding a single biscuit scientist. Nevertheless, I will fight on.

1. Vodafone Comedy Festival

The annual comedy festival in the Iveagh Gardens kicks off this evening. The next four days will feature some great acts, including Dara Ó Briain, Alison Spittle, Foil, Arms & Hog, Eleanor Tiernan, David O’Doherty and Maeve Higgins. Reviewables and the Alison Spittle Show will also be recording live episodes at the festival.

If you can, I recommend heading to the festival. (If you’re interested in a chance to win some free tickets, check the end of this article.) These are my recommendations for some of the shows you should catch:

Thursday 7:30pm – The Laughter Lab

The Reviewables podcast hosted by Cian McGarrigle and Edwin Sammon. Guests include Kevin McGahern, Erin McGathy, Ronan Grace, Andrea Farrell and Damian Clark.

Thursday 9:30pm – The Comedy Hub

MC’d by the legendary Barry Murphy, this show will feature sketch virtuosos Foil, Arms & Hog and stand-up from Michael Ian Black (of Wet Hot American Summer), Shane Clifford (of the film below) and Hannah Mamalis.

Friday 7:30pm – The Laughter Lab

The Alison Spittle Show hosted by Alison Spittle (she’s yet to have Leno fill in for her) with guests Tommy Tiernan and Radie Peat.

Saturday 4:30pm – The Punch Line

Co-MC’d by Conor O’Toole and Ruth Hunter, this show features Foil, Arms & Hog (yeah, again), Emily Heller, Eleanor Tiernan and Chris Kent

Sunday 4:30pm – The Laughter Lab

The Workman’s Comedy Club comes to the Iveagh Gardens, hosted by Conor O’Toole and Ruth Hunter (yeah, again). The show features Maeve Higgins, Colin Chadwick, Julie Jay, James Moran, Pauline Shanahan and Sean Nolan

2. Garvin

4. Bagpackers United
