Tittererer’s Digest #52 (feat. Sofie Hagen)
So this is a weird one. I’ve got some good stuff for you this week but a lot of it’s comedy-related rather than actual comedy if you know what I mean? There’s a good interview with Sofie Hagen, the trailer for the new season of Girls, an interesting Bill Murray article, some Billy On The Street, and a really good sketch by Marina & Nicco. That’s an alright amount of stuff actually. I don’t know what I worried about.
1. Sofie Hagen
Sofie Hagen is a Danish comedian. She won the 2015 Edinburgh Newcomer Award and she’s very funny. I say this based only on clips of her that I’ve seen. I live in Waterford and award-winning comedians rarely come to Waterford. Anyway, in this interview here from the Guardian, Hagen talks about feminism, mental health, and how being a teenage Westlife fan requires the same skills as being an aspiring stand-up.

2. Alison Spittle
In a slight break from tradition, I’m going to include a HeadStuff article in the Digest. Alison Spittle wrote a brilliant piece that’s rightly been shared all over the place and has seen her end up on Liveline, George Hook, and Breakfast Republic (where Keith Walsh repeatedly called this site HeadSpace which is FINE). When Alison sent me the article, I told her that her twitter mentions were about to get very busy and she didn’t believe me. Well, in your face Alison. In. Your. Face.
3. Bill Murray
A Very Murray Christmas premieres on Netflix on December 4th, news which should be of no surprise to you if you read our Netflix roundup. To complement that though, have a read of the New York Times piece The Peculiar Ascent of Bill Murray to Secular Saint here. I’m not sure if I agree that Bill Murray is working some kind of cross-generational multi-brand appeal game, intentionally or not. Most people who love Bill Murray love Ghostbusters AND Groundhog Day AND Wes Anderson films AND “No one will ever believe you”. That is the magic of Murray. They may have something in the whole is-there-a-fundamental-sadness-in-a-divorced-older-man-crashing-parties thing though.
4. GIRLS – Season 5

I think I’m in a minority in still enjoying Girls now as much as I did when it started. Which is a lot. I did a Which Girls Character Are You? on Buzzfeed once and it told me I was Adam which might mean I have a natural tendency to put up with more from Hannah than the average viewer. Season five looks good though right? Shosh in Japan! Jessa being mean! Bad things happening to Marnie for our sins! Hannah making emotionally dubious decisions! What more could we want?
5. Billy On The Street – Julianne Moore

Billy Eichner is very good at dragging celebrities around. Julianne Moore is VERY good at crying on demand. Combine the two and you’ve got something worth five minutes of your time as we stare down the barrel of World War 3.
6. Marina & Nicco – Marina Calls Time Warner

I don’t know about you jerks but I’m off to stock up on war rations. Maybe this Tittererer’s Digest will feature in future history books/holobooks as an example of people trying to keep their spirits up in the shadow of looming global catastrophe. We can dream eh?
