Revolution NOW [10]: Not Since We Began

Not Since We Began

While trying not to get my best boots
any wetter and
fording a small impromptu stream
I watched a leaf,
briefly,
fully yellow and caught
within a rain-river.

I remember how
you said it wouldn’t rain
as I was lying
in the bedroom decorated
with jellyfish.

I don’t mind this little untruth.

Not since we began
resisting the currents
of fear and things left unsaid,
drinking plenty of hot tea and whiskey
when we fail.
