John Flynn is a native of Co. Sligo but relocated to Dublin. He is a member of Raheny Writer's group. He has published two collections of poetry to date, 'How're Ya Ray' and 'Simple Songs & Nursery Rhymes'. His poems have the real feel of the physical world about them and have been described as compelling, image filled poems by Siobhan Campbell.

His poem ‘Orange Football’ is a concrete poem based on childhood plastic footballs sold in the local seaside shop in the West of Ireland. It explores different notions of beauty and texture
