The Podcast Studios Pledges Funds to the Age Action Hardship Fund

The COVID-19 crisis has been nothing like we’ve ever witnessed before in Ireland. Both businesses and communities have been adversely affected, especially those most vulnerable during this health crisis. With that in mind, The Podcast Studios is pledging to donate 25% of all income from new business during the lockdown to the Age Action COVID-19 Hardship Fund and offering a 10% discount on all services for new clients affected by the crisis until April 24th.

Like so many other businesses in Dublin and across the country, the doors at The Podcast Studios have been closed in recent weeks. Our team, however, has been working remotely, editing all kinds of audio and video for businesses and individuals alike. From training materials to audio books, conference and festival talks to our beloved podcasts

Helping Those Most Vulnerable

To give to those most vulnerable during this crisis we will be donating 25% of income from all new business to the Hardship Fund set up by Age Action and the Irish Red Cross. This fund has been organised to respond to the immediate needs of older people in vulnerable situations across Ireland experiencing additional hardship as a result of the COVID-19 health crisis. You can read more about the Hardship Fund here.

“Age Action is delighted to receive this much-needed support for our COVID-19 Hardship Fund, which we launched in partnership with the Irish Red Cross on March 31st. The Hardship Fund provides assistance to older people in vulnerable situations who are struggling to meet the increased costs as a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic in Ireland. We have received a huge number of applications from older people in urgent need of this support already in the first week and so we really appreciate Podcast Studios offering us this opportunity to raise vital funds to be able to assist as many older people who need this help as possible!”

 – Caroline O’Connell, Head of Fundraising, Age Action Ireland

“As with so many other businesses, it is a difficult time for us, but we recognise that there are more vulnerable people in our society, so by offering a deal to other businesses, we hope to achieve three goals; keep our business ticking over, help other businesses tell their stories and most importantly of all, give as much as we possibly can to the Covid-19 Hardship Fund.”

 – Alan Bennett, CEO, The Podcast Studios

Additional information on the COVID-19 Hardship Fund:

Age Action and the Irish Red Cross have launched a COVID-19 Hardship Fund in partnership to support people experiencing difficulties meeting costs associated with the COVID-19 pandemic and are asking people to donate to allow them to assist as many older people as possible.

Unexpected costs can put an added strain on older people and the Hardship Fund will assist with the costs of increased food bills and associated delivery costs, replacing or upgrading essential small appliances, additional transport, energy or communication costs and the costs of additional safety or security equipment to enable older people to remain safe and well in their homes.

Older people are among the groups who are at high risk of the impacts of COVID-19 and we know some older people in vulnerable situations will need additional assistance and financial support, particularly as they cocoon over the coming weeks. We have designed this scheme to provide immediate practical relief to alleviate some of the day to day hardships they will experience due to COVID-19, such as increases in their living costs for additional shopping and deliveries, increased bills and transport costs for essential appointments.

This fund will provide additional assistance to vulnerable older people around Ireland who are experiencing hardship as a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic by making once-off small grants, up to a maximum of €500, per person/household affected.
