Aileen Bowe currently works as an English language teacher in Dublin and is loving it (although as a stative verb, *technically* “loving” is ungrammatical). She’s had letters published in the Indo and Irish Times, before, but doesn’t write consistently. She wrote this article almost entirely out of a gnawing fury at the attitude to women’s health in this country, but also a little bit out of trying to avoid finishing her Master’s thesis on critical approaches to the English language education of asylum seekers and refugees in Ireland.
