Tittererer’s Digest |58| feat. Horace And Pete

Hello! How are you? I’m good. It’s several of my friends’s birthdays this week so that’s nice. Happy birthday to you if it’s your birthday this week. Happy Birthday. So there’s going to be an election at the end of the month. That’s exciting I guess? My election wish is that lots and lots of candidates embarrass themselves on the national stage. That is my wish. Anyway, this week we’ve got Louis CK’s new show Horace And Pete, Mary Houlihan Live, Foil Arms And Hog, Inis Weird, the 100 Jokes That Made Modern Comedy, and Feminist Babysitter. Let’s go.

1. Horace And Pete

So Louis CK released a new thing. It’s set in a pub and it seems to be very slow and depressing. I’ll be honest with you. I bought it and watched the first ten minutes so I could write about it. I’ll watch the rest tomorrow. I’m not a journalist, don’t go expecting professionalism from me. This post is mostly just to remind me to watch it. You can get it from here.

2. Foil Arms and Hog – Skype Interview Fail

A new sketch from Foil Arms and Hog. Speaking of February 26th, I’ll be seeing Foil Arms and Hog live in Waterford on that date. Voting in a general election and seeing live sketch comedy on the same day, who do I think I am? Obama?

3. 100 Jokes That Shaped Modern Comedy

Oh god, a really long list for nerds like me to get angry over. I can feel the endorphins rushing towards my typing fingers urging me to disagree with it bit I can’t. This list is too big to be disagreed with. I mean, there’s probably someone somewhere posting “I can’t believe you picked that Milton Berle joke!” or whatever and fair play to them. I can acknowledge when I’m in way over my head and the absence of non-Americans from the list means that I have very little to offer except a grudging admiration. Read it for yourself here.

4. Mary Houlihan – Live ‘N’ Good

We featured some sketches of Mary Houlihan’s back in TD #55. Now her one-woman show, Live ‘N’ Good is up on youtube in one handy video. Live ‘N’ Good is a mix of “standup, sketches, and other stuff”. I liked it a lot. You might too?

5. Feminist Babysitter

[youtube id=”QMo1Ke7frxo” align=”center” autoplay=”no” maxwidth=”550″]

Feminist Babysitter is a new sketch series by SJ&Ginny Comedy. It’s about a feminist babysitter and a very cute baby. It’s kind of a study of earnestness but with jokes. When I was a teen I used to try talk to toddlers “like they were adults” because I was too cool for babytalk. They used to just stare at me. The lesson is this: babies are narcissists who expect you to sink to their level in a conversation. Jerks. Feminist Babysitter is very good though. Give it a watch.

6. Inis Weird

Now this is a strange one. A very strange one. Inis Weird are a group of people. They release a sketch a week. But sketch is too neutral a word for what they do. Some of them have jokes, some of them have weird tense shots of plates. It’s perplexing. Here’s the most traditional sketch-type sketch of the bunch, Giftface:

and here’s a very abstract one, The Statue Of Liberty,

[youtube id=”LPBXXYpckQ8″ align=”center” autoplay=”no” maxwidth=”550″]

and here’s the most intriguing one, Aileen:

I watched them all. Maybe one of you can explain it all to me? Or maybe I’ll try to interview them and demand that they explain themselves. Very strange.

And that’s it. I’m sure I’ll have loads of HILARIOUS election videos for you next week. Byeeeee
