Tittererer’s Digest #35 (feat. Wet Hot American Summer)
Hello again. How about this weather eh? August? More like AuGust Of Wind Blowing Rain In Your Face right? #Weather #JustForFun #Justice4Cecil. Anyway, I’ve decided to mix things up a bit and move your Tittererer’s Digest to midweek because I did it once by accident and it seemed to go well. Also, I’m going to dispense with the Of The Week format and throw stuff at you like a buffet of humour and humour-related thinkpieces because we’re the short attention-span generation duuude and we’ve got to keep it mixed up or else we’ll die or something like that. Anyway, here’s your Tittererer’s Digest.
1) Wet Hot American Summer
Have you watched all of Wet Hot American Summer – First Day of Camp yet? I have. I think it’s every bit as good as the original and I was slightly out of breath from gasping every time a new guest star appeared. Now, I only watched the original Wet Hot American Summer for the first time last Friday so I can understand how my experience and expectations of the series might be different to yours but still. It’s good right? Here are two WHAS pieces that caught my eye this week.
The first is an oral history of the journey from the movie to the series. It’s not super-exhaustive, notably lacking in people who weren’t in The State, but it’s interesting nonetheless. Read it here.
The second is this fascinating piece by Gideon Jacobs who played the kid that *cough* bonded *cough* with Molly Shannon over her divorce. A powerful short film by Peter McGann about returning emigrants that will make you yearn for Ireland even if you’re currently in Ireland and haven’t left Ireland recently.

3) Workin’ In A Cocktail Bar
Workin’ In A Cocktail Bar has one joke but it does it really, really well. It makes me feel weirdly nostalgic for the days when a video like this would be put on at every house party for months whereas now we’ll all watch it a couple of times and then move on to the next thing. There’s too much comedy is what I’m saying.
