2015: A Year of broken Box Office records

Last year was an incredible year for movies, in terms both of creative endeavour and financial success. The movie business broke records with its 2015 box office takings, which hit the $38 billion mark for the first time ever. A significant chunk of this money was accumulated in China, where box office takings were close to $7 billion, almost 50% higher than the year before.

A spin-off from the Despicable Me franchise, Minions enjoyed major popularity in 2015 amongst family audiences.
