2014 is almost over and it has been a pretty good year for film. So good in fact that we here at HeadStuff couldn’t decide on our Top 10.

We need your help.

We have long-listed 40 films from 2014 which we think are pretty darn good. Just click on the link below and choose your Top 10. When the voting is closed we’ll reveal the TOP 10 FILMS OF 2014 as voted by you, the lovely HeadStuff readers!

Peter Morris is the film editor of HeadStuff as well as writer, reviewer and freelance cameraman and editor. He graduated with a BA in Film and Documentary from GMIT, where he specialised in film theory, directing and documentary production. Peter has worked with various film and television production companies during his time in Ireland and while living abroad in New Zealand such as TV3, Production Shed and TED Talks. He has directed a number of short films, and his documentary Takin Care of Business was shown as part of the 2010 Galway International Film Fleadh. He has a passion for the art of visual storytelling, both as a medium of entertainment and an instrument of change.

I went to vote in this and, after scanning the choices, I realised that I haven’t watched a single film on this list! It has evidently not been my year for watching movies…

Not proud of the number of films seen on this list 50:50 between quality and easy watching (x-men I’m looking at you) anyways, good reminder to watch some of the good stuff that came out this year, when’s the closing date for entries?

Hi livid,

I have had the same problem. What a great list!

I stapled my eyelids to my upper cheeks three years ago and I haven’t watched a movie in years. I will listen to some of these when I get home.

  Phenomenal commenting, sir.
  
  Guardians of the Galaxy would be especially good to listen to.
  I wouldn’t recommend listening to Interstellar without seeing what’s on screen.
